Wheels4Hope recipient and new vehicle owner, Alesia, and her daughter in their car!
Wheels4Hope is a faith-based, non-profit organization dedicated to helping economically vulnerable families and individuals by providing them reliable, affordable vehicles. On a recent Saturday at the Wheels4Hope garage in Raleigh, Alesia Winstead purchased Martha Hale’s donated 1998 Chevy Malibu through the Wheels4Hope vehicle program for $500. She named it “Blessing”. When Alesia and her 4-year-old daughter ended up at the Salvation Army shelter last year, she decided to use this situation as an opportunity to “create a lifestyle change.” She asked God, “Don’t just change my situation, but change me as well.’”
Alesia works full-time at Duke Medical and is planning to write a motivational book, using this difficult time as an inspiration to others. She was spending two hours each morning just to get her daughter to daycare and get to work. “We get up at 4:30 to start our day…I feel mostly bad for her to have to be up so early.” Now, thanks to the Hale family’s generosity and Wheels4Hope’s hard work, she won’t have to!

Vehicle donor and new owner share tears of blessing together
A car blessing is the highlight of our work at Wheels4Hope as we see our mission being fulfilled; that was certainly true on Saturday. The Hale family joined us for the car blessing. The connection between the donor family and the recipient, Alesia, was felt by everyone there.

The Hale family that donated the 1998 Chevy Malibu share a moment of celebration with the new vehicle owner, Alesia and her family.
Alesia was very grateful for the support of everyone present. During the celebration, Alesia shared, “It feels like I’m in heaven with the angels.” Barney, Martha’s son, shared, “I have donated several cars to different organizations over the years. But, my most positive experience with donating cars has come from Wheels4Hope. Martha’s Chevy Malibu will be cherished by Alesia and her family as it provides needed family transportation.
