Hard to believe that we have already placed 14 cars in December. Here are more highlights of our #31campaign – We are placing 31 Cars in 31 Days in Raleigh, NC
Day 8: William is a silver chip graduate of Healing Transitions and currently lives in housing provided by Passage Home. He works full-time and typically rides his bike several miles to work. William has not owned a vehicle in 3 years and was very excited to receive the keys to his Honda Accord from our program. Thank you to the donor of this car, to Grace Community Church for your sponsorship of the repairs, and to our volunteers and garages like Cary Car Care for all your support in getting cars ready for deserving recipients like William!
Day 9: Sheila is the new owner of a Ford Taurus Wagon!! She is about to enter Phase 4 of the Life Skills Program at StepUp Ministry. Sheila has a promotion that is pending – it’s on hold until she gets her own transportation. The promotion involves being able to open and close the restaurant, which Sheila cannot do on the bus schedule. Sheila has a 19 year old son who also works and this vehicle will allow her to get him to work when needed. Sheila looks forward to being independent and driving herself to Life Skills classes, doctor’s appointments, and the grocery store! Way to go Sheila!
Day 10: Tramaine had many of us in tears at his car blessing ceremony as he led the concluding prayer. We are thankful for Tramaine and the many steps that he has taken in his life. He works full-time and has been receiving services from the Support Circle Program at Catholic Charities for many months now. Tramaine was the recipient of a Toyota Camry from our vehicle program. Before purchasing this car, Tramaine relied on the bus and walking to get everywhere. After 5 years of using public transportation Tramaine took his last bus ride to the Wheels4Hope office to sign the paperwork on his car! Way to go Tramaine!
Day 11: Laura has two children, Andrew who is 17 months old and Bella who is 6 years old. She works full-time as a Customer Service Representative and has not owned a vehicle in four years. Laura has been working for over a year to get to the point in her life where she could purchase a car from our program. She is now the proud owner of a Ford Freestar and her daughter is so excited that mommy has a minivan! Thank you to Caring Connections Ministry for referring Laura to our program and thank you to NOMACO for donating this van + two other cars to our organization!
Day 12: Lakisha and her 15 year old son were excited to receive a vehicle after two years without transportation. Lakisha works full-time and was really looking forward to being able to do everyday tasks like laundry and grocery shopping with ease. Lakisha was referred to our program through PLM-Families Together and now owns a Dodge Neon. We wish you the best Lakisha!
Day 13: Samuel was all smiles as he received the keys to his Buick Lesabre, the first car he has owned since 2010. Samuel is a graduate of the Durham Economic Resource Center Job Training Program and is now in their Alumni Program. He works full-time and plans to use this vehicle to get to and from work, church, choir practice, the grocery store, and to volunteer. Congratulations Samuel!
Day 14: Sherang was referred to Wheels4Hope through Passage Home, one of our original partner agencies. She is working full-time and has been without a car for two years. With the keys to her “new” Honda Odyssey Sherang will no longer have to take cabs to work or ride the bus for several hours a day. We are proud of Sherang and the many steps she has taken in her life and hope this vehicle will serve her well!
