Wheels4Hope Car Reduces Commute Dramatically for Deserving Individual
Louise’s commute to work takes her an hour and a half (one-way) relying on public transportation. She works full-time for Xerox as a Customer Service Representative and has never owned a vehicle before. She received housing and support services from Urban Ministries’s Helen Wright Center for Women who referred Louise to Wheels4Hope. Since then she has moved out of the center and into her own apartment. Louise shared, “Getting a Wheels4Hope vehicle will make my transportation time getting to and from work much quicker, which will allow me to put in more hours at my job.”
Wheels4Hope held a car blessing ceremony presenting Louise with the keys to her own vehicle at North Raleigh United Methodist Church. Louise will drive off as the proud owner of a 2003 Honda Accord. North Raleigh United Methodist Church is one of over two dozen Triangle congregational partners with Wheels4Hope. Congregations support the mission with vehicle donations, financial support, and volunteers.
