Jeanette’s story highlights how our community is working together to make an impact with individuals and families striving for self-sufficiency. Members of Pullen Memorial Baptist Church reach out to support individuals regularly residing on their grounds. These individuals need support to find a home of their own. Jeanette and her husband, Darryl, were among these individuals that were supported in enrolling in the Emergency Housing program at Triangle Family Services. This couple is a wonderful example of how hard work and perseverance can pay off.
They have not owned a vehicle in almost 10 years and have relied on walking and taking the bus to their jobs. Jeanette shared that the car will help them "being able to better ourselves with jobs and a better life for our family." Pullen members continue to support them on their journey.
Jeanette’s car blessing ceremony demonstrated the community support as they were surrounded by supporters: Triangle Family Services staff, Pullen Memorial Baptist supporters, pastor from their church, Jeanette’s father, donors of the 02 Pontiac Bonneville, and the Wheel4Hope staff and volunteers that assessed and repaired the vehicle. Triangle Family Services’ caseworkers had nothing but positive things to say about them. They are now the proud new owners of a Pontiac Bonneville.
The mission of Wheels4Hope to provide needed transportation has changed over 2,500 lives in the last 16 years. We often struggle to truly appreciate the importance of a safe home and reliable transportation. Wheels4Hope is grateful for the community support provided through vehicle donors, volunteers, congregations and agencies in our area. Working together with donated cars we really do change lives! We welcome the opportunity to experience more car blessings, as we celebrate with each recipient their success in acquiring needed transportation. Jeannette and Darryl, keep up the great work - there is so much more in store for you!
