On April 25th, Wheels4Hope hosted its 4th Annual Charity Golf Event and celebrated with a blessing as five families received safe, reliable transportation. Phyllis McCray is one of the Wheels4Hope recipients who received a car at the event.
Phyllis, who was living in her son’s car almost two years ago, is a recovering alcoholic who has not owned a vehicle since 1999. She lost her son last November, but has maintained her sobriety and used the resources offered to her by Passage Home and Healing Transitions (where she now works). Phyllis typically works the 3rd shift at Healing Transitions and often has to sleep at her job because there is no public transportation available. Phyllis said a Wheels4Hope car is “a gift straight from God. I never thought a year and a half ago when I was living in my son’s car I would ever be owning my own (car).” She received her “new” Honda Civic at the event. Look at the joy she shows with having vehicle independence.
People referred from Wheels4Hope’s partner agencies purchase a Program Car for $500 (plus tags & title fees), including a 6-month warranty. Phyllis was one of the five people receiving their vehicle on April 25th. Together we are turning donated cars turn into local blessings!
