Read about how the Wheels4Hope mission is turning donated cars into local blessings!
John Pilgrim was volunteering at the Urban Ministries of Wake County intake desk (a Wheels4Hope partner agency) helping a young man fill out paperwork requesting assistance. He asked him, if he had a car payment, and the young man smiled very big and said, "no; he had just bought a car from Wheels4Hope for $500!"
When Rufus began describing his new car, a 1998 red Honda Civic, John listened in disbelief. He said, “Rufus, you’re not going to believe this, but I donated a car to Wheels4Hope and I think you got my car!”
Wheels4Hope recently heard this story when John and his wife Anne came in to donate their second car. John had a huge smile on his face as he described the serendipitous meeting. It clearly meant the world to him as he was able to see exactly who benefited from his donation.
When asked why he donated, he said “I believe in your mission. I believe in getting cars to people who need them and don’t have income for them. You will not automatically destroy a vehicle I dearly loved and take it to auction…I think it may have some more miles on it. I hope so.”
How right John was, Rufus came in to pick up his title, and reported he has a new job and is doing great! He said, "Wheels4Hope has been a true blessing to him; and he hopes we can continue to bless others. He loves his car and plans to keep it as long as he can."
What a wonderful opportunity to see tangible proof of how John’s generosity is helping the local community! Wheels4Hope thanks John and all of our vehicle donors for their support.

Arnetia, a Wheels4Hope recipient, came in recently to pick up her title! She has owned her minivan, which she named Suzie, for over a year now and said it has been such a blessing to her. It has allowed Arnetia to maintain employment and stability.
We were so happy to see Arnetia and baby Kaydence again - she sure has grown since the car blessing ceremony! It is great when we hear updates from our program recipients on their success after they receive their vehicles.
It's amazing what access to transportation can do! Please spread the word about Wheels4Hope - you never know who has a vehicle they don't need any more, that could help us support a deserving individual like Rufus or a family like Arnetia's!
Thanks, great article.
