Wheels4Hope held a special “car blessing” presenting Julia Fuller the keys to a 2000 Toyota Corolla at their Greensboro garage on Thursday, August 11th at 10:00 a.m. Fuller is the first Winston-Salem resident to be placed with a Wheels4Hope program car since the Triad Hub’s inception in 2012. The placement is due to a recent partnership with the Housing Authority of Winston-Salem and Wheels4Hope. She is a graduate of the Housing Authorities Family Self Sufficiency Program (FSS).
Julia has worked extremely hard for this opportunity by saving the $500 for her vehicle. “Having a car means better opportunities for me and my family. We will no longer have to rely on rides, cabs and the bus. It also means I can obtain a better job and go back to school,” said Fuller.
“We are pleased to be expanding into the Winston-Salem community and grateful for our partnership with the Housing Authority. New partnerships in Forsyth County will allow us to serve the entire Triad and help many more families get the transportation they need to improve their employment and educational opportunities,” said Elaine Pleasants, Executive Director.
Rev. Sarah Carver from Holy Trinity Episcopal Church led everyone in the final prayer at Julia's car blessing.
